Frequently Asked Questions - Vehicle Wrapping

WHAT IS A VEHICLE WRAP?
A vehicle wrap is a process of covering a vehicle in a thin, malleable, adhesive vinyl. This technique was previously most commonly used for commercial vehicles, usually for vehicle for branding and advertising purposes. Now, it is extremely popular for privately owned vehicles for colour change purposes and unique modifications.

DOES VEHICLE WRAPPING CAUSE DAMAGE?
Premium automotive films are designed to be removable. If your vehicle has original OEM paint, then installing and removing your vehicle wrap should not damage your paintwork. Problems, however, can arise if your vehicle has had aftermarket paint or repairs as this may not be sufficiently bonded to the bodywork of the vehicle. You should bear this in mind if you know your vehicle has had any additional paintwork.

CAN WRAPS BE TAKEN OFF A VEHICLE?
Vinyl wraps and vehicle graphics can be removed easily, providing the correct techniques and equipment are used. You may wish to do this if you are selling your vehicle or returning it to a lease company, for example. You may want to change the colour of your car or commercial vehicle or even update it to your latest advertising campaign. Assistance with this can be offered, from initial design ideas, to creating a design bespoke to you, through to supplying & fitting the wrap.

CAN I CHOOSE THE DESIGN OF A WRAP?

This means that if a customer has a design in mind, we are more than happy to implement it. On the other hand, we’re more than happy to work with a few ideas or concepts.

CAN A VEHICLE UNDERGO A PART WRAP?
It is often the case that vehicles look great with a part wrap, both on personal and commercial vehicles.

HOW LONG DOES A VEHICLE WRAP TAKE TO APPLY?
This depends on various factors. For example, what vehicle is being wrapped, what type of film is being applied and the coverage option chosen. Typically an exterior colour change wrap takes between three to five days & a full-colour change wrap five to seven days based on two installers.
Our customers will always be given an estimated timeframe for how long a wrap will take before the work takes place.
Smaller projects can normally be completed within the same day, depending on amount of work being carried out, of course.

HOW LONG DOES A WRAP LAST FOR?
If looked after carefully, a good wrap can last for around five years +

DO I HAVE TO INFORM MY INSURANCE COMPANY ABOUT A WRAP?
Anyone who has a vehicle wrap should inform their insurance company as part of the process, even if a vehicle has received a part wrap. This will prevent any issues if/when you needed to claim. Its better for them to know than to dispute a claim later.
DO THE DVLA NEED TO KNOW ABOUT A VEHICLE WRAP?
As with insurance companies, the DVLA also needs to be informed. However, this is usually a very quick process that involves the completion of a V5C form.
You will be required to select the most appropriate colour from a list. We can offer assistance with this if you are unsure.

DOES THE VEHICLE NEED PREPPING BEFORE A WRAP?
One of the most important & vital parts of the wrapping process is the preparation of the vehicle.
It is important that we receive the vehicle in the best possible condition before it is brought to us. If a vehicle arrives in poor or dirty condition it will effect the timescale quoted and may require additional prep work which could lead to additional costs.
